Rules – Amateur Futurity

American Saddle Horse Breeders Futurity of Wisconsin, Inc.


GENERAL PROVISIONS 


DIVISIONS AND HOW SHOWN – The ASHB Amateur Futurity of Wisconsin will be held each year in three divisions: WEANLINGS, YEARLINGS and TWO-YEAR-OLDS shown IN HAND. All classes will be shown under the rules of the U.S. Equestrian Federation. 


SHOWING PROCEDURE FOR IN HAND ENTRIES – Entries will be led into the ring shown in bridle or halter without quarter boots, blinkers, blindfolds or other appliances, one at a time showing at a trot, be led down the right-hand rail to the other end of the ring, return to the judges at a trot, and then be judged on conformation. On the return lead, entries are permitted to trot past the judges to the end of the ring, if so desired, and then return to the judges. Entry will then be led to the opposite rail at a walk, out of the way of subsequent entries. Entries are not to be judged lunging. Plastic or paper bags are not permitted. 


AMATEUR STATUS – All entries are to be shown in the ring by amateurs only, including trailer; however, an entry may be owned by either an amateur or a professional. 


SIRE NOMINATION – To nominate a stallion to the Wisconsin Amateur Futurity it is necessary: 

1. That the stallion be registered with the American Saddlebred Registry. 

2. That a fee of $75.00 be paid to the Wisconsin Futurity on or before June 15 each year a foal is born. 

DAM NOMINATION – To nominate a mare to the Wisconsin Amateur Futurity it is necessary: 

1. That the mare be registered with the American Saddlebred Registry. 

2. That a fee of $20.00 be paid to the Wisconsin Futurity on or before June 15 each year a foal is born. 

NOTE: In the year of nomination, the donor mare must be nominated for each foal/embryo that she will produce that year. A $20.00 dam nomination fee, per foal/embryo will be due on or before June 15. 


IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MARE OWNER TO VERIFY THAT THE SIRE OF THE FOAL HAS BEEN NOMINATED 


WEANLING ELIGIBILITY – To keep a weanling eligible to show in the Wisconsin Amateur Futurity, the following conditions must be fulfilled: 

1. The sire and dam must be nominated to the Wisconsin Amateur Futurity by June 15 of the year in which the foal is born. 

2. A weanling fee of $50.00 must be paid to the Wisconsin Futurity on or before June 15 of the year the foal is born. 

3. In order to show, a copy of the registration papers must be presented to show management. Any misrepresentation automatically disqualifies the entry. 

4. If not shown as a weanling, the foal must be registered by December 31 of the foaling year to maintain eligibility. Pending applications (including DNA testing) must be completed by March 31 of Yearling year. 

YEARLING ELIGIBILITY – To keep a yearling eligible to show in the Wisconsin Amateur Futurity the following conditions must be fulfilled: 

1. The horse must have been nominated as a weanling, in the Amateur Futurity and all conditions and requirements must have been fulfilled. 

2. That a fee of $50.00 to be paid to the Wisconsin Futurity on or before June 15 of the yearling year. 

TWO-YEAR-OLD ELIGIBILITY – To keep a two-year-old eligible to show in the Wisconsin Amateur Futurity the following conditions must be fulfilled: 

1. The horse must have been nominated to the Amateur Weanling and Amateur Yearling Futurity and all conditions and requirements for a weanling and yearling must have been fulfilled 

2. That a fee of $50.00 to be paid to the Wisconsin Futurity on or before June 15 of the two-year-old year. 

PRIZE FUND – The value of the prize fund of the Wisconsin Futurity each year shall be the total amount of money paid in fees, miscellaneous funds, added donations, and interest, less administrative costs. 


DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZE MONEY – The nominator of the Sire and Dam of the Weanling Champion will receive $50.00 each. The nominator of the Sire and Dam of the Reserve Weanling Champion will receive $25.00 each. The remaining prize money shall be divided equally between Weanling, Yearling, and Two-Year-Old divisions consisting of one class each. In each class the winner will receive 30%, second 25%, third 20%, fourth 15% and fifth 10% of the purse. All prize money shall be paid to the owner of record at time of entry. All prize money allocated to each class will be paid out regardless of number of horses shown. An IRS 1099-Misc Form will be sent to all money winners. 


LIABILITY – No entry is liable for more than the amount paid in, but there will be no return of payment. The right is reserved to reject any entry and bar any entry from competition for failure to comply with the conditions of this futurity. 


THE WISCONSIN FUTURITY AND ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURACY OF PREVIOUSLY NOMINATED HORSES. IT IS THE OWNER/NOMINATOR RESPONSIBILITY TO CAREFULLY REVIEW ALL PREVIOUSLY FUTURITY NOMINATED HORSES BY RETAINING COPIES OF 

PREVIOUS NOMINATIONS.
